Protein powder is so nasty tasting to me. Seriously some of the worst stuff around. It’s a necessary evil, though, if you are trying to build lean muscle mass or tend to gravitate towards fats and carbs like I do. I remember when I counted macros and had to force bowls of Greek yogurt mixed with the stuff down my throat. Seriously bad time. Smoothies are the easiest way to mask the chalkiness, and this one is actually delicious. It’s one of my go-to smoothie recipes.
- 1/2 cup milk of choice; I use homemade soy milk
- 1 frozen banana, chopped
- 1 apple, chopped
- 4 dates, pitted
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- few pinches sea salt
- 1 serving vanilla protein powder
- splash of pure vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon unsulfured blackstrap molasses
- water, if needed
Blend everything until it’s mixed well. If it isn’t mixing, add water 1 tablespoon at a time.
I like to serve mine in a glass with a Tajin rim.
